The Civil Service Commission on Wednesday approved contracts for state employees to receive wage increases in 2017.
The commission unanimously approved two wage increases for union-represented employees. These contracts allow for a 3 percent increase on October 1, 2017 and a 2 percent increase starting October 1, 2018. A 3 percent increase for the non-exclusively represented employees, non-union classified employees was also approved beginning October 1, 2017. These agreements run annually although the expectation is for the commission to approve a 2 percent increase for them next year.
Classified employees and appointed positions were also recommended for a 3 percent raise, however that is formally up to the governor and the Legislature. There were no major changes to health insurance coverages in the contracts approved.
